User Profile Page
The User Profile page is the main landing page you see after logging in. It brings together every company you are connected to and provides quick access to your account settings.
Companies You Administer
This section lists every company for which your account has Admin access. Click a company name to open its full management view, where you can configure settings, manage users, and oversee production data. These will be the companies you created or were granted admin access to by another admin.
Creating a New Company
Click Create new company to set up an additional company profile. You can create up to 5 companies. Each company is managed and billed as a separate account.
Before creating a company, note that it must represent a genuine legal entity, a registered “doing business as” (DBA) name of a legal entity, or a division, subsidiary, or unit belonging to a parent legal entity. You must confirm that you are authorized to represent that company and act on its behalf; the creation form requires you to acknowledge this before the company can be created. Fraudulent creation of a company is grounds for deactivation of the company and may result in suspension or termination of your user account.
Detailed guide to the Company page ›Companies You're a Member Of
This section appears when you are an internal member of one or more companies — meaning another admin has invited you to join their company. Internal members access company data through the Backbone desktop app rather than the web portal.
- Click a company name to view membership details or leave the company.
Vendors Who Share Their Customer Portal With You
This section appears when a company has invited you access their Customer Portal. Customer Portal access is read-only and lets you view your orders, shipments, and invoices directly in the browser — no app download required. Click a vendor to open their customer portal, which lets you search your orders, shipments, and invoices.
Detailed guide to Vendors' Customer Portals ›Invitations
Pending invitations to join a company appear here. Each invitation shows the company name, the sender's name, and their email address. Click an invitation to review and accept or decline it.
Once accepted, the company will appear in the appropriate section above depending on the access level granted (admin, internal member, or external).
Account
The Account section provides quick links to common personal actions:
- Download the App — If you are an admin or internal member of a company, go to the app download page to install the Backbone desktop application. Required for internal team members who need productivity oriented features.
- User Settings — Update your profile information, change your password, or adjust personal preferences.
- Submit Question or Issue — Opens a pre-addressed email to the Backbone support team so you can report a problem or ask a question.
- Logout — Securely sign out of your account.

Your Language
The Backbone MRP desktop app has support for 43 languages. Your language is a personal setting, not a company-wide one — everyone on the team chooses their own, so a supervisor can work in English while an operator works in Spanish and an office manager works in Polish, all in the same live data at the same time.
Your choice is stored on your user account rather than on any one computer, so it follows you to every workstation you sign in to.
Changing Your Language
You can change it from either place — both update the same setting:
- In the web portal — open User Settings, click Edit, and pick your language from the Language list. Each language is listed in its own script (Español, 日本語, العربية), so you can find yours without reading English.
- In the desktop app — click the Language button on the toolbar.
Leaving the setting on Automatic means you have expressed no preference, and the app displays in English.
Applying a New Language
The desktop app loads its language once when it starts, so a change takes effect the next time you launch it. When you pick a new language in the desktop app, it downloads that language immediately and shows you a confirmation message written in the language you just chose, along with a Restart Now button that restarts the app for you so the change applies right away. You can also just close the dialog and keep working; the new language will be there the next time you open the app.
Company Default Language
Company admins can set a Default Language for the company (Company Settings › Edit). New members who join start out in that language instead of English. It is only a starting point — each person can change their own language afterward, and changing the company default does not affect people who have already joined.
The company default does one more job: it is the language your customer documents are written in when a customer has no language of their own.
Your Language vs. Your Customers' Language
These are two separate settings, and it is worth keeping them straight. The language on this page is yours — it controls the buttons, menus, and screens you work in. It has no effect on what your customers receive.
The paperwork you send out — order confirmations, packing slips, and invoices — follows the Preferred Language set on each customer's record instead. That is why a German-speaking salesperson working in a German app still sends English invoices to a customer in Ohio, and Spanish ones to a customer in Mexico.
